Smarter Growing, Lower Impact
Our nurseries span over 65 acres of space, and we’ve made significant investments to minimise our environmental footprint. This includes:
- Rainwater harvesting systems to capture and conserve water
- Energy-efficient climate control to reduce emissions
- Biomass heating burning sustainably sourced wood on key sites
- Solar panels to reduce our dependency on mains electricity
- Electronic charge points for company vehicles and visitors
- Automation to reduce waste and increase efficiency
- Biological controls to avoid the use of conventional chemicals
Peat free growing
At Lovania we recognise the growing concern around the use of peat in ornamental horticulture. This is why we are making active steps to reduce, or eliminate, the use of peat within our supply chain. Together with a select group of leading UK growers, Lovania is a proud member of the RHS Peat Free Fellowship programme, which aims to educate and transition the ornamental plant sector to peat-free growing. As part of this Programme, Lovania has developed an extensive range of peat-free plants (including bedding, alpines, perennials and bulbs) and our portfolio is growing continuously.
Packaging and Plastics
We work hard to reduce packaging waste in across our supply chain. Some examples include:
- Recycled and recyclable trays and pots
- Cardboard recycling solutions
We work with our retail partners to explore sustainable presentation options that still meet in-store performance needs
Responsible Sourcing
We partner only with trusted suppliers and breeders who share our environmental values. That means:
- Supporting UK-based suppliers wherever possible, including our subsidiary, Seiont Nurseries
- Prioritising products that reduce chemical inputs and increase resilience
